Encourage Shield October 2009
Round 5 Roseville vs North Ryde at Wakehurst
North Ryde won 4 1/2 -1 1/2
We started with a win in mind and finished with a loss but it was in good spirits and the experience gained will hold us in good stead for future years. We played in a very strong division and I was very proud of the effort, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship conducted on and off the coarse. There was a lot of good golf on display from the boys and so often in our matchs it came down to the wire and the difference was the putting.
- Ed Sinclair was again up against a seasoned player and lost 6 and 5
- Buster Underwood was neck and neck all day and fought hard to win the last and square the match all Square - 2 games no losses good effort Buster, kept his cool again under pressure
- Marco Franfelter played some excellent golf to win his match Won 4 and 3 Great effort Marco 2 wins for the season
- Nick Allen played against a good player in form and went down 6 and 5
- Luke Cullam could not match the pars and good golf by his opponent and went down 7 and 6
- Jake Holland fought all the way and was unlucky to lose on last 1 down good effort
Special thanks again to Paul for sacrificing his time and supporting the boys. Well thats it for another year, I know we are already looking forward to next year, as it was a totally enjoyable experience for all those involved.
Paul will look to see if he can arrange a game against the junior pennant team in December, which would be good fun.

Round 3 Roseville v Northbridge at Bayview Golf Club 8/11/09
Northbridge won 5-1
Paul announced a new team that ensured all members of the squad the opportunity to play, which they thoroughly enjoyed and played some excellent golf. It has been an honour to manage a teamof such well presented juniors, a credit to all. The Encourage Shield has been a great experience for a young but very enthusiastic team that will develop over future years.
Andrew Butler led by example as Captain for the deay and played some good golf (great birdie at 10) lost 4 and 2
Buster Underwood played his first match and was the hero of the day with a birdie on the 18th to square the match with a big gallery watching.
Marco Franfelter again fought all the way to go down 3 and 1
Jake Holland played some great shots but had no luck with putter Jake lost 5 and 4
Jenny Zhang showed great skills and courage to fight back from 4 down with 4 to play but lost on the 18th - great effort
Chloe Steele had a forfiet and won - lucky for Luke who filled in and played against Chloe. Chloe played in good spirit and in testiment of her character uses a counter on her buggy that counts every shot, it was great to have you Chloe.
Thanks again to Paul Skinner for coming and giving his time and support.
Look forward to seeing you all at Wakehurst hit off 12:30 be there at 12:00. Paul will annunce the team during the week. Good luck. In my rush on Sunday I forgot to give the balls out so a bonus of 2 alls each is on offer this week.

Round 2 Roseville v Wakehurst at Northbridge Golf Club 1/11/09
It was a beautiful day at Northbridge and again a close game that went down to the wire against Wakehurst 3 1/2 to 2. Wakehurst had a very experienced team that was at least intimidating for some of the young guys but to the Roseville teams credit they played in the true spirit of the game with pride and honour led by example from our captain Ed Sinclair.
At halfway we had 4 of 6 matches square or better but the longer holes on the back nine gave Wakehurst the advantage, and eventually turned their way. .
-
Ed Sinclair had a tough match against a seasoned player off a single figure handicap and lost 5 and 4
-
Andrew Butler had a great win and played some great golf under pressure Well done Andrew won 2 and 1
-
Nick Allen played fantastic golf and secured the match on the 17th with the shot of day Well done Nick won 2 and 1
-
Marco Franfelter had a rough start but to his credit fought all the way lost 5 and 4
-
Luke Cullam was a great chance at 3 up at the turn but a tough bunker shot brought him unstuck at the 17th and lost 2 and 1
-
Jake Holland was inspirational in his determination and effort but the other guy had length to burn and Jake lost 4 and 2
Congratulations to the team on your effort and good sportsmanship, a win is just around the corner. The boys are all really enjoying the experience and special thanks to Paul Skinner for coming along and giving his profession support to the team I know all the boys appreciate it.
