Laser Launch Monitor Club Fitting

Roseville Golf Club now has a purpose built club fitting and testing facility which utilises state of the art equipment.  The heart of the facility is the Laser Launch Monitor - Golf Achiever II which is the most accurate system available on the market.  Click on this link to read the Golf Achiever Performance White Paper. Click on the play icon below to watch a video of how the Golf Achiever works.

The Golf Achiever II’s patented laser technology provides unparalleled accuracy and precision in the measurement and reporting of all significant ball flight and golf swing data.  The G.A.-II Laser System comprises two main components:  an L-Frame swing-capture unit and software.  The L-Frame contains lasers, photo-detectors, and ultra-high speed electronics arranged to create a precisely mapped ‘laser grid’ for the player to hit through.  Once a player hits a ball through the laser grid, the Golf Achiever’s software records the player’s shot, immediately generates a simulated ball flight on the hitting screen and provides industry standard accuracy on a wide array of golf swing and ball flight parameters such as:

  • Carry Distance:  yards
  • Launch Angle:  2 to 65 degrees
  • Maximum Height
  • Backspin RPM and Sidespin RPM
  • Ball Speed:  5 mph to 250 mph
  • Club head speed:  5 mph to 250 mph
  • Face impact position:  toe, centre or heel
  • Face angle at impact:  -10 degrees closed to +10 degrees open
  • Lie angle at impact:  toe, mid toe, centre, mid heel and heel
  • Swing path:  outside in -20 degrees to inside out +20 degrees

With all Club fitting sessions it is a good idea to bring your existing clubs to establish the benefits of upgrading your present equipment.  We can record every single shot hit in a session and provide a print out of averages for each club used at the end of the session.  We also use your preferred ball through the session to improve the accuracy of the club fit and to allow a fairer comparison between clubs.

Driver Fitting

When fitting for drivers it is important to get fitted into the right launch angle.  With golf companies now being limited in club head design and how fast the ball is able to come off the club face, you will find many quality drivers that are on the market today.  The ball will leave the club at similar speeds, therefore when trying to maximise distance, the launch angle is a critical part of getting more distance.  Try to think of the garden hose.  You are in the yard watering the plants, the hose is fully extended and to reach the plant in the corner you have to get the angle of the water spout just right.  If it is too low the water will land short and if it is too high it will land short.  Fitting for a driver works on the same principal.  All golfers create different ball speed off the clubface so different golfers will require different lofts and different shafts to help achieve the desired launch conditions.  Normal rule of thumb is the slower the ball speed off the face, the higher the launch angle required and for the longer hitters too much backspin can lose distance.

Hybrid Irons

A lot of people are still using 2,3 and 4 irons and they shouldn't be.  Even the Pros who play and practice a great deal more than us are switching to them becuase they are easier to use and generate more consistent distance.  If your ball speed is below 100mph your longest iron should be a 5 iron.  We can compare your existing 2,3 or 4 irons and compare them with many different brands of hybrid irons or fairway woods.

Custom Fitted Irons

With the industry's most accurate measurements of launch and lie angles we can immediately assess if an iron fits the player.  Every manufacturer of golf equipment offers a wide range of shaft and head options for every club model they produce.  Without measured results, you can only hope that you've selected the right specification shaft and clubhead variables.

Advantages of Club Fitting at Roseville Indoors

  • Conduct your club fitting session in air conditioned comfort
  • Wind or bad weather will not affect your club fitting session
  • Compare your equipment to our demo equipment with no pressure to buy
  • Compare many different brands and models
  • Use the same type of golf ball you normally use for every recorded shot
  • Use the most accurate Launch Monitor currently available
  • Be guided by experienced PGA accredited staff members

Disadvantages of Club Fitting at a Driving Range

  • The weather can affect your results
  • Chances are the facility will not have 50+ golf balls of the same type you currently use
  • The golf balls may be restricted flight
  • It is very hard to determine and record the distance of shots with thousands of balls already out on the range
  • Using different golf balls will make it hard to compare the feel of different clubs
  • If they have a launch monitor can you see the white paper confirming the accuracy of the system?

Disadvantages of Club Fitting at an Off Course Retailer

  • Are you being advised by an experienced PGA qualified staff member?
  • If they have a launch monitor can you see the white paper confirming the accuracy of the system?
  • Have the staff been trained how to use the Launch Monitor comprehensively?
  • Can they give you a print out at the end of the session?
  • Will they be as helpful and convenient with regard to warranty claims or repairs?
  • Are you buying something just because it is on sale?
