Membership

First of all, thank you for considering membership at Roseville Golf Club.  In the following paragraphs we would like to explain the advantages of joining our Club.

The Golf Course  The Club has completed construction of a storm water harvesting system and 26 million litre water storage dam which will now provide the course with an excellent supply of recycled water.  This will ensure the golf course is lush and green through all but severe drought periods.  Due to the large size of the dam the back 9 holes are currently being modified to increase the par of the course (currently par 65 for men, increasing to 66 by December, 2010) and to provide more challenging holes.  The course changes have been designed by world famous golf course architect, Jim Wilcher, and his company Golf by Design.  A full 18 holes (with 18 properly constructed greens) will remain in play until the course is finished in December, 2010.  Stage one, two and three are now completed and in play. Construction has started on Stage 4 (the final stage) which will be open for play in December 2010.

Can I get my name on the Timesheets?  This is a very important factor in joining a golf club.  Roseville is a Private Golf Club so that you only share the course with other members – no public golfers are allowed.  Our membership levels are always monitored carefully which means you can join now and comfortably place your name on the competition timesheets even the weekends.

Practice Facilities   The Club has a large practice putting green located next to the clubhouse  which is regularly referred to as one of the best in Sydney.  We also have a chipping green and three practice hitting bays.  The best practice (and exercise) however is out on the golf course and if you play later in the afternoons Monday to Thursday, or even Saturday and Sunday, there is usually ample spare tee times.

Will I meet new people?  Golf is one of the easiest ways to meet new people.  Feel confident you can join Roseville Golf Club without knowing any existing members.  The GM can even assist finding a nominator and seconder for your Membership application.  All you need to do is join and place your name on the timesheets and our friendly members will do the rest - they will make you feel welcome.  Many of our members have made some of their best friends through life at Roseville Golf Club.

Should I be joining a longer par 72 Golf Club?  Par 72 golf courses tend to have many long par 4s which require long drives and usually long second shots, which can be hard work.  Roseville’s shorter, but still challenging layout has many benefits including faster rounds and lower subscription fees.  It is an ideal course for beginner golfers or those who may be returning to the game after a period  away  concentrating on families or careers and who find they now have more leisure time.

How is the Club going financially?  The results listed below are all from January to December in the relevant year:

•    2009 $259,300 profit
•    2008 $451,212 profit
•    2007 $318,485 profit
•    2006 $243,653 profit
•    2005 $245,621 profit
•    2004 $239,954 profit
•    2003 $172,664 profit
•    2002 $358,519 profit

As you can see the results have been very consistent, allowing the profits to be re-invested into the facilities for members to enjoy.  If a golf club is not running profitably how will the golf course and amenities be improved each year? Roseville Golf Club currently has no outside borrowings.

How competitive are the costs of membership?  If you compare our subscriptions with other Private Golf Clubs you will find our fees make us one of the most affordable in Sydney.  After the joining fee is paid a 7 day annual subscription works out to be just $38.50 per week for unlimited social rounds and eligible competition play – excellent value for money.

Clubhouse facilities  The Clubhouse underwent a major refurbishment in 2003 when all areas within the building were significantly improved.  The outdoor terrace area overlooks the 18th hole with views over the new water storage dam and the Garigal National Park and is nothing short of spectacular.  The Members Lounge is very comfortable and includes air conditioning, an electronic scoreboard, wireless internet access and a 70” HDTV with plenty of sport programming.  Our Bar and Kitchen facilities use state of the art equipment so that our friendly staff are able to provide high quality food and beverages at all times.  We have both male and female locker rooms with shower facilities.  Our Administration Office is staffed 7 days per week to assist member enquiries and manage our golf competitions.

Function room  Our function room can seat up to 220 people and shares the wonderful views over the golf course and Garigal National Park.  It is very popular as a wedding/function venue and contributes financially to the Club – another factor helping to keep membership subscriptions lower.

Golf Pro Shop  The Club manages all facets of the Pro Shop with all profits returned to the Club.  This ensures high member service levels and state of the art facilities.  The latest equipment is always on hand and our very knowledgeable staff are always available to give expert advice.  We also have very highly regarded PGA Golf Professionals who provide golf tuition either outdoors or in our indoor Laser swing analysis room.

Course maintenance facilities and staff  Roseville Golf Club owns all of its own equipment which is serviced and maintained to very high standards.  There is also an equipment schedule which means old machinery is updated in a timely manner.  The facilities include sound environmental safety systems and compliant staff training programmes.  Our staff are highly regarded and include many long standing employees who take great pride in the daily presentation of the golf course.  The turf conditions are consistently maintained to a high standard year round.
