9th Tee Construction Photos
Above Photo - The tee was lazer levelled yesterday and this morning the entire tee is beeing turfed with couch grass. We hope to be playing on this new tee in approx 3 weeks time however this will depend on the weather. 19-06-09
Above Photo - Now the wet weather has stopped we have been able to install both the drainage and irrigation system this week. The growing medium (sand mix) is currently beeing placed on the tee and evenly distributed with a tracked Bob Cat. The tee will be laser levelled on Wednesday and turfed the following day as long as the dry weather continues. 12-06-09
Above photo - The contractor has now finished the retaining wall and has raised the teeing ground to the same height as our old 11th tee (right hand side of the photo). When the new 15th hole is opened men will play from this new tee and ladies will use the old 11th tee. The rainfall which fell last night has now slowed the next stage - installation of drainage and the irrigation system. 20-5-09
Above photo - The rock wall has now reached the final height. The contractor will continue to bring fill in this week and once finished work will begin on the irrigation system, drainage and laying the growing medium. 11-05-09
Above Photo - The last layer of rocks is beeing installed today. This photo is taken from the 8th fairway. 8/5/09

Above photo - This photo is taken from the 9th fairway looking back down to the new 9th tee. The new tee will have a significantly larger playing surface than before. 28-04-09
Above photo - The retaining wall is getting closer to completion. The contractor needs to lay three more courses of rock to reach the completion height. 28-04-09

Above photo - The contractor continues to make good progress now the wet weather has reduced. As soon as the base is dry enough the additional re-enforced steel and concrete will be installed to the base of the wall. 23-4-09
Above photo - Steel bars have been drilled into the rock this week. Next week more re-enforced steel will be laid in between the bars and then covered in concrete. This will ensure the toe of the rock retaining wall will not fail in the future. Once the support is completed the rock wall will continue to be built upwards. 08-04-09
Above photo - The 1st layer of rocks for the new retaining wall have been laid. The rocks are all of a very similar height and the workman is placing smaller rocks to fill any crevaces. 23/03/09
Above photo - Work begins cutting a trench for the new drainage pipe within the rock shelf. The contractors will use a combination of jack hammers and a rock saw installed on the small excavator. 16/3/09

Above Photo - The new 12th green has had a ring of SeaIsle grass laid around it. This is the same grass used for the green surround on green 16a. This grass is salt water tolerant, does not need as much water, does not need to be mowed as often and provides are great surface. Click here to read more about this grass.

Above photo - Myles our Golf Course Shaping Contractor is building up the edge of this bunker on the 15th hole. He is using a special clay based soil mix for the edge of the bunker. It is very important that no one walks on the edges of these new bunkers until the turf roots have had a good chance to penerate deeply to give the edge enough strength and stability. 30-01-09

Above photo - Our Golf Course shaping contractor is working on the two rear bunkers today. Lets hope the wet weather stays away so we can finish this green within the next two weeks. 23-02-09

Above photo - Couch turf is being laid around the bunker edges. It is extremely important no one stands on the bunker edges until the grass roots have had a long time to penetrate the soil and stablise the edge. 02-03-09

Above photo - The rear and surrounds of the new 15th green have now been turfed. With the recent wet weather the turf farm has been unable to cut any more turf for the new 15th fairway. The green will be seeded within the next few days. 10-03-09
